Method of Establishment:
Heritage grew out of home Bible studies that were being held by a group of believers who had a friendship and worship history together.
Facility:
In early 2004, the church purchased the old Presbyterian Church building in Remington, IN, that had been abandoned 2 years earlier. After much renovation and cleaning, the first public worship service was held in Feb 2004. It’s a beautiful old building, constructed in 1913, and still has the original wood-work and stained glass windows.
Community Profile:
Remington is situated in NW Indiana, on I-65, exactly halfway between Chicago and Indianapolis. It’s an old community that has roots in agriculture, which remains a primary local industry. Heritage is the only Bible exposition oriented ministry in Remington, and is attempting to reach a part of the community that has been largely un-reached to date.
Current Family Units: 15
Short term (18-24 months) Goals:
- To create an environment of Bible teaching and training that will be used as a ‘feeder’ system for church planting efforts
- Conduct an evaluation of our current facility to determine its viability for use in accomplishing this goal. Since a building is a tool for ministry, we may need to relocate to accommodate future ministry efforts.
Long term (2-5 years) Goals:
To be actively involved in planting 20 churches in NW Indiana and NE Illinois by 2030, by assisting the new plants, training and sending church plant leaders, recruiting young pastors, recruiting other churches to join the effort, and, ultimately, be a place where boys and girls grow into men and women serving God in career ministry.
